The town hall of Milazzo – a Tyrrhenian Sicilian town famous for the “Battle of the Thousand” in July 1860 – stands in the so-called “new town” facing the harbor. The area was once fully occupied by the Carmelite convent, built in 1570 and rebuilt over the following centuries. The plan for the new “office building” built between 1884 and 1892, was to connect a new building to what remained of the church and cloister of the existing religious complex. The new building would form a single block with what already existed and would fit into the urban layout that still characterises the waterfront today.

Abstract
The town hall of Milazzo – a Tyrrhenian Sicilian town famous for the “Battle of the Thousand” in July 1860 – stands in the so-called “new town” facing the harbor. The area was once fully occupied by the Carmelite convent, built in 1570 and rebuilt over the following centuries. The plan for the new “office building” built between 1884 and 1892, was to connect a new building to what remained of the church and cloister of the existing religious complex. The new building would form a single block with what already existed and would fit into the urban layout that still characterises the waterfront today.File in questo prodotto:
