We propose to reflect critically on the fieldwork that consisted of the compilation of memories of workers who lived during the dictatorship. e focus is placed on the “historian's kitchen”, highlighting the way in which the research was built. Two elements stand out: the assumptions from which the work originated and the ability of oral sources to make historians rethink their initial research questions and challenge and review the assumptions that prevailed at the beginning.
