This essay deepens the knowledge about the repercussion of Pinochet’s coup of 11th September 1973 on the imaginary of the radical right in Italy and Spain.The hypothesis suggests that the Chilean events represented a hinge for the history of the European radical right of the 1970s, since it constituted a possible scenario that could be replicated in countries such as Italy and Spain.Through the analysis of extensive Italian and Spanish hemerographic documentation, in this essay we delve into the way in which Chilean events impacted the imaginary of the rights in both countries.We analyze different revues, paying attention to the arguments that justified and exalted the coup.
