Abstract
The Rights of the Others becomes in the global scenario a privileged arena for thinking about new forms of democratic and cosmopolitan citizenship. This paper intends to reconstruct Lévinas’ and Arendt’s ethical-political theories (1950s) on the right of the Other and the right to have rights as prerequisites for the protection of human beings. The rights of migrants then assumes rele-vance in Benhabib’s philosophy (2004). Updating previous reflections, also in the light of the new international migration law, she elaborates a project of a plural political identity for Mediterranean communities, evoking their increas-ingly multicultural vocation.Pubblicazioni consigliate
