Natale Conti traduttore del Περὶ σχημάτων di Alessandro

Il contributo si concentra sulla traduzione latina del Περὶ σχημάτων di Alessandro (II sec. d.C.) realizzato dall'umanista veneziano Natale Conti (Natalis Comes). Dopo una panoramica sulle numerose traduzioni di Conti dal greco, attraverso un’analisi esaustiva, lo studio dimostra che la fonte del De figuris è l'editio Princeps Aldina del testo (1508) This paper focuses on the Latin translation of Alexander’s Περὶ σχημάτων (2nd c. A.D.) made by the Venetian humanist Natale Conti (Natalis Comes). After an overview on Conti’s many translations from Greek, through a comprehensive analysis, the study demonstrates that the source of the De figuris is the Aldine editio princeps of the text (1508); it then analyzes Conti’s method of translation, discusses amend - ments to the Greek text, solutions to textual problems and highlights interpretative errors. Stylistic peculiarities of the Latin version are also pointed out.
