Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic crisis has further highlighted both the production system’s reliance on foreign workers for essential sectors and the existing disparities between workers, with Black or non-white individuals concentrated in sectors where work is less protected, more physically demanding, and exposed to greater risks. This article highlights the risks of racialisation and exploitation, particularly affecting the most recent stratification of migrant workers, represented by sub-Saharans, in a Sicilian agricultural export enclave specialised in floriculture.
