Circular economy assessment is crucial to guide decision-makers towards efficient and sustainable circular strategies. Despite the relevant emissions and waste produced by agricultural sectors, such as the olive oil industry, circularity assessment is still limited. For this reason, the present paper carried out a scoping literature review to explore the metrics currently adopted in the agri-food sector, with a specific focus on the olive oil industry. Results identified circular-specific and circular-adaptable metrics. However, adopting circularity indicators or assessment methods alone provides relevant but not sufficient information to measure circularity in the sector, thus a combined approach is advisible.

Abstract
Circular economy assessment is crucial to guide decision-makers towards efficient and sustainable circular strategies. Despite the relevant emissions and waste produced by agricultural sectors, such as the olive oil industry, circularity assessment is still limited. For this reason, the present paper carried out a scoping literature review to explore the metrics currently adopted in the agri-food sector, with a specific focus on the olive oil industry. Results identified circular-specific and circular-adaptable metrics. However, adopting circularity indicators or assessment methods alone provides relevant but not sufficient information to measure circularity in the sector, thus a combined approach is advisible.Pubblicazioni consigliate
