Ziette, bambinacce, nipotini equivoci. Una rilettura delle "Sorelle Materassi" di Aldo Palazzeschi

C’è più di un tipo di queer kinship nelle Sorelle Materassi di Aldo Palazzeschi, autore italiano segretamente uranista che nasce nel tardo Ottocento e vive fino a ben oltre la metà del Novecento (1885-1974). In questo romanzo, due mature zie nubili adottano il nipote lasciato loro “in eredità” da una sorella defunta. La situazione, apparentemente tipica, borghese e conformista, svela ben presto i suoi lati originali ed equivoci. Le due signorine provano un’attrazione larvatamente erotica per il bel nipote, la sua fisicità e la sua virilità, così lui diventa il loro toy boy in un legame poliamoroso, tanto ovviamente casto quanto velatamente morboso. Da questo bellissimo quanto ambiguissimo romanzo, uscito nel 1934 (quindi, in piena epoca fascista), la RAI aveva tratto un famoso sceneggiato nel 1972, con i migliori interpreti dell’epoca: una programmazione piuttosto temeraria per una RAI che oggi consideriamo – a torto – solo perbenista e democristiana. There is a more than one queer kinship in Sorelle Materassi by Aldo Palazzeschi, a secretly gay Italian author who was born in the late nineteenth century and lived until well beyond the mid-twentieth century (1885-1974). In this novel, two mature unmarried aunts adopt the nephew left to them "as an inheritance" by a deceased sister. The situation, apparently typical, soon reveals its original and equivocal sides. The two young ladies feel a covertly erotic attraction for their handsome nephew, his physicality and his virility, so he becomes their toy boy in a polyamorous bond, as obviously chaste as it is secretly morbid.
