Abstract
OBJECTIVES Dentures with a bilaterally bal anced occlusal scheme are rec ommended for improved denture stability, patient comfort, masti catory force distribution, and re duced residual ridge resorption. This article presents a case re port on a systematic yet simple approach that covers all steps/ method from the inception to the delivery of bilaterally balanced complete dentures. MATERIALS AND METHODS It explains a detailed procedure for fabrication of a bilateral bal anced denture, these include 56 2025;93(1):56-70 CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE split cast fabrication, extraoral tracer attachment, gothic arch tracing, making of interocclusal records, programming of the ar ticulator, steps for teeth arrange ment, laboratory remounting pro cedures and assessment of the centric and eccentric contacts during denture insertion. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION In the literature, bilaterally bal anced occlusal scheme fabricat ed dentures are advocated for better denture stability and pa tient comfort. There were, how ever, no elaborately explained clinical reports for the fabrication technique. This article presents a systematic yet straightforward approach, covering all steps nec essary for the fabrication of bal anced complete dentures. CONCLUSIONS Sequentially performing the steps/method outlined in this clinical report will assist clini cians in achieving a more accu rate prosthetic outcome. The patient was extremely satisfied with the function, fit and esthet ics of the dentures. The patient also confirmed stability of den tures even during parafunctional activities. Bilateral Balanced Occlusion im proves denture stability, provides bet ter masticatory force distribution, re duces active loading on supporting tissue and the edentulous ridge, re duces residual ridge resorption, and improves denture efficiency. The bal anced denture thus provides addi tional comfort to the patient in terms of fit, stability, function, and esthetics.Pubblicazioni consigliate
