The urgency to reduce waste production led worldwide attention to the circular paradigm. In the agri-food sector (AFS), including the olive oil industry, circularity assessment remains limited. This study reviewed circularity and sustainability metrics in the AFS, focusing on the olive oil industry. Results indicate Life Cycle Assessment, as widely used, whether circularity indicators often lack context, benchmarks, and links to circularity. Therefore, high fragmentation may hinder companies from measuring and adopting circularity. Abstract
This study belongs to Research Projects of National Interest 2022 “Towards circular and sustainable agri-food systems: metrics for assessment (CIRCULAGRIS)” CUP J53D23009360006 – code 2022JNNJJX.Pubblicazioni consigliate
