The question of the archetype within the framework of the sociology of imaginary

The most established sociological discourse in academic circles has long marginalized the heuristic potential of archetypes. The idea of universal, ahistorical psychic models clashes with the constructionist paradigm of the historical and social sciences. Nevertheless, the sociology of the imaginary is called upon to engage with the archetypal paradigm because, while it forms part of the historical and social sciences, its aim is to grasp the deep dynamics that institute and transform the visible aspects of the social.
