The Agecos Project is a research initiative that is part of the activities of the DiCAM at the University of Messina. Its goal is to develop an archaeological map of the southeastern tip of Sicily, specifically the municipalities of Noto, Avola, Rosolini, Pachino, and Portopalo di Capopassero. This area is rich in continuous human presence, spanning from the Paleolithic to the Middle Ages. The creation of a GIS platform has allowed for the organization of the large amount of data collected during the first year of research, combining bibliographic research with archival investigations. The project aims to produce archaeological risk maps and to understand the dynamics of human settlement in the area over time.
