The Critical Incident Technique (CIT) holds significant potential as a transformative methodology for educational research within the context of Rural Education. Through a bibliographic and theoretical-reflective investigation, the study examines the conceptual framework and evolution of CIT, proposing its specific application in the field of “Rural Schools” (Escuelas del Campo). The findings indicate that CIT allows the unique experiences of rural school actors (teachers, students, and the community) to emerge and gain visibility, capturing the complexity of learning processes in territories with singular social and geographical characteristics. It is concluded that CIT constitutes a powerful and versatile tool, capable of promoting reflexivity and improving pedagogical practices in contexts of marginality or territorial specificity, establishing itself as an essential resource for strengthening the scientific field of Rural Education.
