Un nuovo ethos democratico. L’Europa e l’ordine politico mondiale nella filosofia di Karl Jaspers

This paper intends to reflect on the relevance of Jaspersian realism in the analysis of the decline of Europe’s centrality and its new identity in a different geopolitical scenario. In the balance of terror between America and Russia during the Cold War, Jaspers foresees the emergence of new political and spiritual entities, China and India. Starting from these assumptions, we can ask whether the German philosopher’s ethical-political theory constitutes a worthwhile proposal for the current realisation of a new peaceful world order.
