The aim of this study was to contribute to the information about metabolic and functional changes, occurring in the newborn kid during the adaptative period. For this reason GOT, GPT, γ-GT, urea, creatinine, triglycerides, total cholesterol, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and potassium were investigated during the first 30 days after parturition. Five adult Messinese goats and their ten twin kids were used as experimental subjects. Once a week, for one month after birth, a blood sample was collected from each animal. On the obtained values One Way Repeated Measure Analysis of Variance was applied to compare the sampling time effect and the difference of age. Bonferroni's test was applied, for post hoc comparison, where ANOVA showed a significant effect P<0.05. A statistical significance was showed for GOT, GPT, triglycerides, total cholesterol, phosphorus and calcium. A significant effect of age was showed for γ-GT, urea, triglycerides, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus. In conclusion our results indicated that important modifications occurs during the neonatal period in kid and provide useful information in preventing and managing neonatal diseases.

Abstract
In conclusion our results indicated that important modifications occurs during the neonatal period in kid and provide useful information in preventing and managing neonatal diseases.Pubblicazioni consigliate
