Guidelines on whole blood transfusion in dogs, cats and horses of the Italian Ministry of Health were adopted in Italy by the agreement between State and Regions 20 December 2007. The Authors emphasize the need to regulate the practice of blood transfusion but review these guidelines in order to remove some mistakes and improve applicability.
