This paper inquires into the critical activity of Juan Rodolfo Wilcock during his collaboration with «Sipario». Through his reviews, in the years between 1967 and 1969, we can see how the critical languages have been renewed to address some emerging issues on the Italian scene in times of great changes inside and outside theatre. In particular, Wilcock reflects on the state of dramaturgical production in Italy, on the experimentations of actors and directors and on the role of the audience, from his position both as a critic and as a theatrical author. In this perspective, Wilcock’s critical activity is linked to his artistic experience, not only related to his dramaturgical practice, but also to the statements of theatrical poetics that he expressed in different places of his work.
