Written in the most fruitful period of Henri Bosco’s literary production, Sylvius was defined, at the time of its publication, as a winter tale. Sylvius not only possesses the structure and the form, but also and above all the prosody and the rhythm of the tale. In this article, we focus on prosodic aspects of Sylvius that try to copy the spontaneity of spoken language. These prosodic aspects concern as much punctuation and typographical symbols as the morpho-syntactic level. This is the case for the frequent parentheses, a few exclamations, and the numerous questions, sometimes followed by attempts to answer, and the ellipsis which indicate something left unsaid. But also for parataxis and asyndeton, that are very common in the prose of Sylvius.
