Aerial headspace constituents of Olanthus maritimus L, (Asteraceae) have been studied using Headspace Solid-Phase Microextraction and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS). Thirty-eight components, mainly monoterpenes hydrocarbons and their oxygenated derivatives, sesquiterpenes and aliphatic aldehydes were fully characterized by mass spectra, linear retention indices, and injection of standards, the average composition as single components and classes of substances is reported. Among the volatile constituents, the major components of Otanthus maritimus L. were santolina triene (24.35%), camphor (17.91%) and artemisyl acetate (13.19%).

Abstract
Aerial headspace constituents of Olanthus maritimus L, (Asteraceae) have been studied using Headspace Solid-Phase Microextraction and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS). Thirty-eight components, mainly monoterpenes hydrocarbons and their oxygenated derivatives, sesquiterpenes and aliphatic aldehydes were fully characterized by mass spectra, linear retention indices, and injection of standards, the average composition as single components and classes of substances is reported.
